MANUKA HONEY & ALL IT’S HEALTH BENEFITS

Manuka honey is produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the Manuka bush, it is one of the most unique and beneficial forms of honey in the world.

Manuka honey is said to be effective for treating everything from a sore throat to clearing up blemishes on your skin.

To dive in a bit deeper – it is deeply nourishing and healing for your skin (acne and eczema) and hair, can assist in wound healing, soothing/preventing sickness, allergies, boosting the immune system, boosting energy, improving sleep, preventing tooth decay and improving digestive issues.

Normal honey is known for nutritional and immune-boosting abilities (however, honey isn’t what it used to be – most products at the grocery store are not much different from high fructose corn syrup), yet Manuka honey is an even better source of various nutrients such as amino acids, calcium, copper, iron, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, zinc, sodium, and a host of B-vitamins, including B6, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin, and panthothenic acid. The ingestible and topical qualities and benefits from Manuka honey are very powerful.

Taken daily, Manuka honey has an elixir effect that boosts energy and enhances your quality of life. Because of its nutrient-dense profile, it boosts vitality, youthful energy, and has been known to improve skin tone and texture.

After doing some research on Manuka honey, specifically for blemishes at first later realizing it’s other benefits, I decided to give it a try and have been using it ever since.

How I use Manuka honey:

  1. Take a scoop of honey, mix with a pump of my cleanser and wash my face
  2. Apply a honey face/hair mask (recipes listed below)
  3. Mix honey in with my teas and smoothies

The best part is it’s so simple to add into your daily routine!

Make sure the Manuka honey is 100% raw with a Bio Active 12+ or higher and it’s cold-pressed, which makes it anti-bacterial. Like this one.

FACE MASK RECIPES: 

  • 1 tsp Manuka Honey
  • 1/2 tsp rose water
  • Option to add cinnamon (if you have sensitive skin, consider skipping the cinnamon)

  • 1 tsp Manuka honey
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

            *******

Method:

  1. Mix the ingredients in a small container
  2. Wet your face lightly to make the application easier
  3. Apply the mixture all over your face with clean fingers
  4. Leave it on for a minimum of 20 minutes up to 1 hour
  5. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry

How to use it: Use this face mask once or twice per week.

DETOX DRINK

For natural detoxification, cleanse the body and feel rejuvenated with these key ingredients:

  • 1 glass of warm or hot water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • ½–1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Manuka honey

Method:

  1. Warm the water
  2. Mix all ingredients together
  3. Best served warm but drink at desired temperature

HYDRATING HAIR MASK

  • 1 Tbsp Manuka Honey
  • 1-3 Tbsp Cold Pressed Coconut Oil

Method:

  1.  Warm ingredients on the stove top at low temp
  2. Allow to cool to the touch, but not enough so that the coconut oil hardens
  3. Apply to wet or dry hair
  4. Let sit for 15-30 minute – wash directly after so your hair isn’t left greasy
